Ernesto’s is a celebration of Basque design and architecture from antiquity to the present day, with a focus on the visual environment of the city of San Sebastian where Chef Ryan Bartlow developed his love for Basque cuisine.

The deep green waters of the Atlantic and the natural stone comprising many of the city’s buildings serve as inspiration for the palette and material selections throughout.

The rich period of Art Nouveau architecture and design is a particular reference, from which the playful, geometric curves take their inspiration.

01

Natural limewash finish optimizes air quality in the space.

02

Custom paneling in natural wood veneer plywood.

03

Existing concrete slab was repaired and polished to reduce material use and act as a thermal regulator for the fully-glazed dining room.

Multiple strategies were used in the space to create a beautiful, healthy setting for the fine dining experience.

Custom ceramic sconces developed with local ceramicist Workaday Handmade add to the gentle glow of the dining room.

The natural finishes and playful geometry of the dining room serve as the perfect backdrop for florals throughout the space.
